Signs your AC needs a technician
If you notice any of these, turn the system off and call — it usually saves a bigger repair.
Warm air from the vents
The compressor or refrigerant is failing — it won’t fix itself.
Ice on the lines or coil
Low refrigerant or blocked airflow.
Breaker keeps tripping
An electrical fault in the outdoor unit.
Water around the indoor unit
A clogged drain can damage ceilings and walls.
Turns on and off every few minutes
Short cycling wears out the compressor fast.
Power bills creeping up
A struggling system uses more power before it fails.
Is it time for a new AC?
A repair is usually the right call for a newer system with one failed part. But if your AC is past 12–15 years, uses R-22 refrigerant, or needs the compressor replaced, a new system often costs less over the next few summers.
We’ll show you both options and let you decide — no pressure either way.
12–17 yrs
Typical life of a central AC system in Southern California heat
R-22
Older refrigerant that is no longer made — recharging it is costly
SEER2
The newer efficiency rating used for systems sold since 2023

Summer days in North Hollywood and the east Valley often go past 100°F, and AC systems run for weeks without a break. That’s when weak capacitors and dirty coils fail. A spring tune-up is the easiest way to avoid a breakdown in July.

AC repair & installation questions
Don’t see yours? Call us — we’re happy to help, even if it’s just advice.
How much does AC repair cost in North Hollywood?
Our diagnostic visit is $79 and counts toward the repair. You get a clear price before any work starts. New systems are quoted after a home visit.
Should I repair or replace my AC?
If the system is under about 12 years old and has one failed part, repair usually wins. If it’s 12–15+ years old, uses R-22 or needs a new compressor, a new system often costs less over the next few summers.
How often should I get an AC tune-up?
Once a year, ideally in spring before the Valley heat. We clean the coils, check refrigerant and electrical parts, and flush the condensate drain.
Why is my AC running but not cooling?
Common causes are a failed capacitor, a dirty outdoor coil, low refrigerant from a leak, or a clogged filter that freezes the coil. If you see ice, turn the system off and call us.
Do you install ductless mini-splits?
Yes. Mini-splits are a great fit for ADUs, garage conversions and rooms central air doesn’t reach. We size the system and quote it after a home visit.
Can you come today?
Often, yes. We work every day from 9am to 7pm. Call in the morning for the best chance of a same-day visit.
